From Luxor you can make a day trip to Abydos and Dendara. That is about 145 km north of Luxor.
In Abydos is the temple of Osiris. The temple contains hieroglyphs from all the kings from Seti till later.
 

 
On the west bank of the Nile, 90 miles (145 km) north of Luxor, lies the Temple of Abydos.
Abydos is linked to the earliest dynasties recorded, and in 1993, the earliest known tomb was found here, along with some of the oldest hieroglyphics ever discovered.
The Temple dates to around 3150 BC, and the records have provided scholars with much of what is known about the earliest periods of recorded history.
This area, sacred to Osiris, was a very powerful location to those who believed in the next world.
The ancient Egyptians said that at sunset, the area looked like a golden staircase leading to the afterlife, and thus many people wished to be buried here. It was here, too, that Osiris, after being killed by his brother Seth, returned to power. Seth had killed Osiris and scattered the pieces of his body all over Egypt. Osiris' wife and sister, Isis, gathered the pieces one by one, put them back together, and restored life to her husband. It was said that Abydos was where the final piece, his head, was buried, and so it was here that Osiris was brought back to life to become the judge of the dead and lord of the netherworld.

Then there is the hieroglyphs with the helicopter.
I read this on the net:

"In February 1998, I was informed of the existence of a Egyptian bas relief considered as an "enigma". Indeed, amongst the hieroglyphs, one can easily distinguished an drawing resembling that of a helicopter. This "news" (almost 2-year old) was published in a French-"speaking" mail-list originally dedicated to UFO, archeology, archeo-astronomy, etc.

The first person to inquire about this "mystery" indeed asked a simple question : what about this bas-relief? Hoax or fact?
The strange hieroglyphs are the result of a recutting of the texts - the original signs were covered in plaster, and new ones cut into the surface. This plaster has now fallen out, leaving images that look rather like modern items!
At least this is the opinion of some people, but is it true?
We know now, that lots of places have connections with beings from other planets, so perhaps it were predictions! Look for yourself:

The Temple of Dendara was known as the House of Hathor. Hathor was the goddess of love, joy and beauty.
Hathor, celestial goddess of love and festivity. The personification of the sky, she was represented as a star-studded cow or as a woman with the head of a cow.
She was identified with many other goddesses of fertility and love, such as Aphrodite. Her name also appears as Athor.



After this we go to Hurghada by bus. The beach and the Red Sea. I love the sea!
About 395 km to the south of Suez, Hurghada has a very pleasant climate all year round and offers facilities for fishing and snorkeling, diving and windsurfing.
 

 
 

Is this relaxing or not? After all those busy days we can certainly appreciate this!

And the diving, snorkeling and swimming sounds very appealing too!
